Born and raised in District 15, Sam McKenzie is proud to represent his home. After graduating from Austin-East High School, Sam went on to earn a B.S. In Physics from Fisk University and then a M.S. in Physics from the University of Memphis.
Sam spent over 30 years working at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, recently retiring after a distinguished career. In addition to his work at Oak Ridge, Sam is also a small business owner and a professional youth sports official.
Sam’s the proud father of three children and has served in multiple civic and volunteer positions throughout the years including 8 years as a Knox County Commissioner and many years in leadership positions of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He has served the citizens of District 15 in the TN State House since 2020.
Sam McKenzie is a proud Democrat who has taken active roles in the House Democratic Caucus and currently serves as Chair of the TN Black Caucus of Legislators.
